Key Takeaways
- 1Quality time can look like brunch in pajamas and sand on your feet.
- 2Photos are fun, but the laughs in between clicks matter more.
- 3Thrifting with people you love turns errands into memories.
- 4Balance looks like burgers, water, and a partner who checks in.
- 5Simple weekends can refill your energy for big life changes.
When my sister and her boyfriend flew in, I already knew the weekend was not going to be calm. The plan was simple: eat good, touch some sand, hunt for thrift treasures, cuddle dogs, and talk way too loud in public.
Nothing about this trip was perfect or polished. We were tired, late, full, sun kissed, and cracking up half the time. That is kind of the point. Real life looks like wandering through Goodwill with a cart full of random clothes, fries in your hand, and somebody yelling “get me, bro” in the background.
If you watched the vlog, this is the story behind the chaos and why weekends like this mean so much to me.
Pajamas, Brunch, And Loud Plates
We started one of the days in full pajamas at breakfast. No cute “quiet morning routine” here. Just bed hair, pink everything, and a table full of way too much food.
Chicken and waffles with strawberry butter. Pumpkin cinnamon roll pancakes. Eggs, bacon, grits, regular pancakes for the simple ones at the table. Everyone had their “signature order” and their own way of explaining it like it was a personality trait.
Food is a love language in my family. We joke around, steal bites, and hype each other up over the most basic things. You will hear a full mini speech about a pancake. You will get judged if you do not season your grits correctly. It is playful, but it is connection. It is a reminder that sitting around one table still matters in a world full of rushing.
Beach Day, Big Chairs, And Camera Rolls
Then we hit Siesta Key. We pulled up around four in the afternoon, which gave us front row parking and a calmer beach. Fewer people, less noise, soft light on the water. My ideal combo.
Of course we did a fit check in the parking lot. Thrifted sets, Goodwill loafers, Hollister jeans, little tanks from random stores that nobody can remember. Everyone acted like a personal stylist and a comedian at the same time.
On the sand, we went straight into “photo shoot mode.” Poses in that giant beach chair, couples photos, “catalog model” jokes, the classic “look away from the camera and pretend you are in deep thought.” Half the pictures are cute, half are pure chaos, and all of them feel like us.
Taking photos is not about proving something for the internet for me. It is about locking in the feeling of that moment. When I scroll back months from now, I want to remember the jokes, the breeze, the way my sister laughed when someone fell into the sand.
Puppies, British Accents, And Soft Hearts
At one point we ended up surrounded by puppies, and my entire personality shifted. Baby talk activated. Accent on. New name chosen for a dog that does not even live with me: Tobias.
You can see my face in the vlog. Full heart, full obsession, fully plotting future dog life. Little beds, tiny paws, that clumsy puppy energy. I wanted to take all of them home and give them full government names and last names.
These tiny moments matter more than they seem. We went in “just to look” and walked out with zero dogs, but a full camera roll, a new favorite pretend dog name, and a reminder that love can show up in small, fluffy packages for ten minutes inside a shop.
Thrifting, Joker Suits, And Trash-Themed Outfits
If you know me, you know I live for a good thrift find. We hit multiple Goodwill spots, including one with those giant bins. That place looked empty compared to some locations I have visited, but we still walked out with gems.
Some highlights:
- A long skirt that can double as a dress
- An oversized men’s shirt that instantly turned into an outfit idea with heels
- Inside slippers for the house that may or may not survive a rainy day
- Tanks for a “white trash” bachelorette theme, picked with full sarcasm and full commitment
The star of the show was a full Joker suit that fit my man way too perfectly. Like someone tailored it for him. After that, Halloween plans changed on the spot. Sometimes thrift finds low key guide your future moods.
Thrifting is creative play for me. You grab random pieces, picture them styled ten different ways, and spend very little money for a lot of personality.
Burgers, Soda Debates, And Balance
A big chunk of this vlog is us eating. Again. We tried a burger spot for the first time, and I went right into full food critic mode. Fries, double stacks, chocolate shakes, all of it. My man likes to joke about my love for soda and caffeine, and he is not wrong.
Here is the thing though. Health is real. Water matters. Sleep, movement, and vitamins matter. At the same time, burgers and root beer floats hit in a different way after a long day. We talk about balance a lot in the video. Drink your water, but do not freak out over one Coke. Enjoy the burger, then go back to your normal routine.
Later we grabbed chocolate strawberries and drinks from Kung Fu Tea, and they were so good that my eyes almost watered. That is another theme for this whole weekend. Let little treats feel special. Do not rush through every snack like it is nothing.
Goodbyes, Lazy Mornings, And A Busy Week Ahead
We wrapped the visit with an airport drop off, sleepy car rides, and a very hyper dog at home. You can tell we are all tired near the end. Hair not done. Voices lower. Random jokes still flying around, but the energy is softer.
Real life is waiting right after this vlog. Packing for a move. A busy work week. Content to film. Adult stuff that does not care that I just had a cute beach day.
That is why weekends like this mean so much. They remind me that I am not here only to grind. I am here to hug my sister in the kitchen, argue over cereal in Walmart, sing way too loud in the car, and laugh at my man when he talks tough then turns into a softie around puppies.
What This Weekend Reminded Me
You do not need a perfect schedule to make real memories. You need people you feel safe around, food that makes you smile, music that makes you act goofy, and a camera if you want to hold onto it later.
Some days will look messy, loud and unplanned. That does not mean you wasted time. That often means you were living it.
If this vlog sat in the background while you cleaned your room, did your hair, or planned a trip with your own people, I hope it gave you a little push to say yes to simple plans and let yourself enjoy them fully.
